Research Progress on Fracture Toughness of SiCp/Al-Cu-Mg Composites

Abstract

With the growing demand for lightweight and high-performance materials in aerospace and other industries, the market size of metal matrix composites continues to rise. Among them, SiC particle-reinforced aluminum matrix composites (SiCp/Al composites) are widely used in aerospace and other fields due to their advantages such as high specific strength and high specific stiffness, and the fracture toughness of materials has attracted much attention. In this paper, the influencing factors and solutions of fracture toughness of SiCp/Al-Cu-Mg composites are deeply studied. The core properties and key processes are briefly analyzed from three aspects of aluminum alloy matrix, SiC particles, aluminum alloy matrix and SiC particles, and the corresponding solutions are introduced. Finally, taking SiCp/Al composite forgings as an example, the complete process route and the performance changes of the material in preparation and production are summarized.
