High Temperature Thermoplasticity of Continuous Casting Billet of DP1180 Steel

High Temperature Thermoplasticity of Continuous Casting Billet of DP1180 Steel

Abstract

The work aims to study the high temperature thermoplasticity of DP1180 steel to improve the quality and yield of DP1180 steel continuous casting billets. A thermal expansion test of DP1180 steel was carried out with a thermal simulation test machine Gleeble-3800 to obtain the phase transition temperature point of the steel. High temperature tensile tests were conducted at strain rates of 0.01 and 1 s^-1, with deformation temperature ranging from 650 to 1 250 ℃, to obtain stress-strain curves under different deformation conditions. The fracture and longitudinal section of the sample were observed and analyzed by scanning electron microscope, metallographic microscope and electron backscatter diffraction analysis. The fracture mode of the material and the thermoplastic change rule of DP1180 steel were analyzed. The starting and ending temperature points of austenite phase transformation of DP1180 steel were 715 ℃ and 855 ℃. At the same strain rate, the high temperature flow stress gradually decreased with the increase of deformation temperature. When the deformation temperature was constant, the flow stress gradually increased with the increase of strain rate. In the range of deformation conditions, the reduction of area of the test steel was greater than 60%. The fracture morphology of the sample was composed of dimples of different sizes. The sample produced obvious dynamic recrystallization at high temperature and high deformation rate. There is no brittle zone in DP1180 steel under the condition of strain rate of 0.01 s^-1 and 1 s^-1 and deformation temperature of 650-1 250 ℃. The fracture modes of the sample are mainly ductile fracture and micropore aggregation fracture. At the strain rate of 1 s^-1 and the deformation temperature of 850-1 250 ℃, the plastic deformation of the structure is severe, and obvious dynamic recrystallization occurs. The recrystallized austenite nucleates at the grain boundary, which increases the softening degree of the structure and improves the plasticity of the material.
